Email Automation Good for the Environment

A short time ago we realised there was a huge communication gap that spans the time between when we send a letter, parcel or freight item until the time it is received. In most cases items are simply sent with no further communication between the sender and receiver. This communication gap represents a significant opportunity to improve efficiency that includes reduced fuel costs and less pollution for the entire supply chain. Now that has to be a plus for the environment!

Automation is also an opportunity to improve communications and strengthen relationships between all senders and receivers of items.

Automated systems can also reduce problems associated with slow or missing deliveries. Track and Trace systems are reasonably well developed although these are reactionary and typically employed only after an item goes missing.

For example I ordered a microscopic camera 2 days ago from a supplier on Auckland’s North Shore to be supplied to an address in Central Auckland. It still had not arrived after 3 days. When I queried the supplier they confirmed the delivery via track and trace but to the wrong address. The supplier needed to recover the item back to their warehouse and then dispatch it again. Think of the amount of wasted fuel and added polution in this scenario. This also meant a lost sale as the delay allowed me to identity a different solution for the problem i.e. I decided to use a specialist service for the microscopic analysis.

Some organisations and individuals prompt their customers or friends when they send an item that can include Track and Trace details. Unfortunately, without automation there still remains a large problem. Both the Sender and Receiver are still required to access the delivery company website to view the status of the delivery. Increased work demands combined with our busy lives means we often forget or simply do not have time to routinely update ourselves.

Identifying a problem quickly correlates to minimising the impact in terms of cost, stress and delay. This can only truly be achieved through automation. This can result in significantly reduced costs for the entire supply chain. A significant part of delivery cost is fuel with its corresponding pollution. So everything we can do to increase efficiency at the supply level means reduced duplication and therefore less fuel used, less cost and less pollution.

Please also consider that Track and Trace does not work with Non Registered items and are unavailable for some overseas destinations. So an email automated update system would assist in this area as well.

Automated email communication for letters, parcels and freight can mean:

  1. Before an item is sent a problem could be indentified e.g. incorrect address, incorrect product thus solving an inefficient re-supply situation thus less fuel used, lower cost and less pollution.
  2. The quickest and most efficient way to minimise the impact of missing or slow deliveries for all parties.
  3. It is the most efficient in terms of keeping the sender and receiver updated on a delivery status.
  4. Can be an enhancement to Track and Trace systems.
  5. Fits the gap where Track and Trace is not availabe e.g. Non Registered items and some overseas destinations.
  6. It shows you really care about your friends and or customers and therefore can lead to stronger friendships, stronger customer relations and increased sales.

So the SendReceived system has been developed. A simple automated email system that keeps both the sender and receiver updated on the delivery status of letters, parcels or freight.  This is a NZ developed world leading innovation designed to reduce waste, reduce fuel costs, reduce pollution, improve efficiency, improve communications and improve relationships.
